Freshman Seminar Field Trip……!
What a day we had….Dr Griffin encouraged us to attend the National Geographic lecture in the chemistry building. However, the presentation wasnt there!!….Bummer! In unison, all who would attend this presentation, walked across the campus to where this study had been relocated. Unfortunately the capacity of the confernece room wasnt as big as expected. None of us could attend. Although this was great news for most of my classmates, i was a little upset due to the fact it was such an inconvenience to me!! Hopefully the next conference that I attend will have better results than this one. We did get extra credit, and my roomate and I took this picture!

The Energetic, Enthusiastic, Empowered Professor….Dr Carr!!!
Dr. Carr introduced himself in our Freshman Seminar Class, Although Dr. Griffin spoke very highly of him and his lectures, his energetic attitude convinced me to attend his lecture on Research Methodolgy. Not to fond of the topic of the lecture i was mostly intrigued by the enthusiasm. He kept my attention throughout the presentation, and finished it with a very well spoken poem. It was a very strong poem on African Pride, which Dr Carr teaches. I commend his great effort and time he dedicated to us. This was a great presentation!

HIV Conference with the National Medical Association
This Conference, in the Ballroom of Blackburn, wasn’t exactly what I expected. Although they had complimentary breakfast, which was great i might say, the conference to me was not that informative. The conference seemed a little opinionated. They did a great job in promoting safe sex, they had a lot of give aways including condoms for male and female and lubricant. They had great tactics of drawing in the targeted audience, using all the free items as bait. However the presentation wasn’t strong enough to keep us interested. I left as soon as i could, where i wouldnt be considered rude for eating and running. I didnt enjoy this conference at all!

President Sidney A. Ribeau to Deliver 141st Opening Convocation Address
On September 26th, 2008 classes were suspended due to a very important. President Ribeau address to us Freshmens. He was very enthusiatic and informative of how he planned to improve Howard University. We were honored to have alumnus and olympic medalist David Oliver, his inspiring words influenced me to just to take advantage of all opportunities possible. The 4 hour address very long but interesting gave me a little closure that Howard University is the place to be. With President Ribeau’s pledge and commitment to our success, we all have the opportunity to become successful professionals. Let’s see what happens……

Around DC!!!!
I had so much fun @ The National Portrait Gallery. My roomate and I got on the Metro, a new transportation system for me. We got off at the most interesting stop. The Gallery-Chinatown. We got something to eat and went on our way to the National Portrait Gallery. There were many interesting exhibits including one about hip hop, that really caught my attention. This is one of many Smithsonian museums that are in Washington, DC. I think it is a good experience to take full advantage of these museums. They are all free and the enhance your knowledge of many things. I want to visit many more. Does anybody agree that with one trip on the metro for $1.35 u can explore a lot?
